How does securities trading work? When should you buy or sell a share? What role do politics and central banks play? In the stock market game, which starts today and runs until March 20, participants can address questions like these.
The 22nd OÖN stock exchange game in collaboration with Raiffeisen Upper Austria will take place in an exciting environment. The year 2024 will be a question of pace: How quickly will inflation decline? How fast can the economy grow? When will central banks cut interest rates? “The last few meters on the way to the inflation target of two percent are likely to prove tougher than many expect,” says Uli Krämer, head of portfolio management at Kepler-Fonds KAG, which is part of Raiffeisenlandesbank.
In this mixed situation, the first half of the year in particular is likely to remain volatile on the stock markets, says Krämer: “At the start of the stock market game, stock valuations are on average neutral, the USA on the more expensive side and Europe cheaper.”
In the stock market game, participants learn about the world of international financial markets and their mechanisms. Whoever achieved the highest profit at the end through smart and foresighted buying and selling of securities can call themselves the winner. The main prize of the stock market game is a brand new car – a Suzuki Swift Hybrid clear worth 16,990 euros, provided by Kepler-Fonds KAG and Auto Günther. Second place will receive Raiffeisen certificate vouchers and a wellness holiday, third place will receive funds from Schroders and a concert and dinner evening in the Brucknerhaus, fourth place will receive Reisewelt vouchers and fifth place will receive Linzer City shopping vouchers.
The main prize for the students is a Hrinkow E-Force FS Shimano e-bike worth 5249 euros. The second place winner will receive a MacBook Air 13 and the third place winner will receive an iPad 8.
The best school class gets to go to a LASK home game in the Raiffeisen Arena, including meals worth 2,000 euros. Second place is a private cinema screening including snacks in the Star Movie, third place is a school jump in the Jump Dome Linz. New is a weekly ranking; the weekly winners will receive Kepler fund vouchers worth 500 euros each.
