On the 25th, the 1st Division of the Supreme Court (Chief Justice Oh Gyeong-mi) confirmed the lower court’s decision to pay 10 million won in the appeal trial of the damages claim filed by Ms. Kim against Seoul Voice CEO Baek Eun-jong and reporter Lee Myung-soo, dismissing the trial.
Dismissal without hearing is a system in which the court dismisses an appeal without further hearing in a case that is judged not to be the subject of an appeal.
This reporter handed over the details of his phone calls with Mrs. Kim over 50 times over a six-month period from July 2021 to MBC and announced that he would make them public in January of last year, ahead of the presidential election.
In the same month, Ms. Kim filed a request for a provisional injunction with the court to prevent the recording file from being made public. However, the court allowed disclosure with some exceptions.

In the first trial, CEO Baek and reporter Lee were sentenced to pay a total of 10 million won, but both parties objected and appealed.
The appeals court mediated this case and presented a mandatory mediation plan requiring reporter Lee and others to pay 5 million won to Ms. Kim. Nevertheless, both sides raised objections and the case was sent to trial again, and in the second trial, the same ruling as in the first trial was made to pay 10 million won.
