The second session of the 14th Provincial People’s Congress opened today in Fuzhou, and the Xiamen delegation held a plenary meeting of the delegation yesterday in preparation for the event.
The Xiamen delegation, consisting of 43 representatives, gathered at their residence yesterday and unanimously elected Cui Yonghui as their leader, with Huang Wenhui and Yang Guohao as deputy leaders. The meeting also prepared a draft list of the presidium and secretary-general of the conference, as well as a draft agenda, and conveyed the spirit of the delegation convenor meeting.
The meeting emphasized the historical significance of this year, marking the 75th anniversary of the founding of New China and the 10th anniversary of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s blueprint for a new Fujian. Representatives were reminded to uphold the party’s overall leadership, serve the overall situation around the center, and practice people’s democracy throughout the process.
In a show of commitment to the responsibilities at hand, the Xiamen delegation held a meeting of party members and established a temporary party branch. They also concentrated on discussing and putting forward proposals or suggestions at their residence.
The second session of the 14th Provincial People’s Congress also held a preparatory meeting yesterday, during which the presidium and secretary-general of the conference were elected and the agenda was approved. The main tasks of the conference include listening to and reviewing various work reports, approving national economic and social development plans, and electing individual members of the Standing Committee of the 14th Fujian Provincial People’s Congress.
