Jefferson Elías Murillo Mosquera, departmental delegate of the Chocó Registry, was kidnapped this afternoon while traveling on the Quibdó-Istmina highway, in the Ranchería sector. Five armed men dressed in black forced him out of the vehicle and took him through a wooded area.
He was accompanied by his cousin, who was also kidnapped, and his partner, who informed the authorities.
Jefferson Elías is a native of Istmina, son of lawyer Silvio Elías Murillo and professor Ángela Mosquera Ordoñez, and brother of former parliamentarian John Arley Murillo.
The Union of Workers of the Registry, Sintrareginal Chocó, and the National Registrar of Civil Status, Hernán Penagos Giraldo, rejected the fact. “We demand the immediate release of our official and his safe return,” Penagos Giraldo wrote in his X account.
The governor of Chocó, Nubia Carolina Córdoba, chaired an extraordinary security council and reported that a reward of thirty million pesos will be given to anyone who provides information that leads to his release.
