Within the commemoration of the anniversary of the 174 years of the province of ‘Valle-Dupar’, in the facilities of the Valledupar History Academy The act of celebration of this important date was carried out on April 15, 1850, when the Law was created that gave this important label to what would later be the capital city of the department of Cesar.

At this event, it was also recalled that the creation of the province of ‘Valle-Dupar’ It had the same connotation as the creation of the department of Cesar in 1967, as expressed in dialogue with EL PILÓN by the president of the Valledupar Academy of History, Leovedis Martínez.

“We held the launch event for the Upar Valley History Academy, also as a site where events can be held. It is a place that is undoubtedly rich in a lot of history because there we preserve the notarial archive of Valledupar, from 1727 to 1960,” he noted.

“We are putting together a library, with a number of books that we have, which will also soon be available, from the consultation of people who wish to delve into the history of our province such as Valledupar. You will also be able to find research work that we are carrying out with the contribution of prominent academics in the region,” he added.

CONTRIBUTORS TO THE HISTORY

There are different writers and researchers who have made contributions so that the library of the Upar Valley History Academy Keep growing. According to the president, writers such as Tomás Darío Gutiérrez, who has published different copies highlighting the history of Valledupar and Cesar, have added to the literary contributions.

“In this rigorous work, personalities such as Carlos Liñán Pitre, Dr. Simón Martínez, Luis Orozco Córdoba and Giovanni Martínez are also making contributions, carrying out an investigation on land ownership, and we also find Amado Villafañe, an Arhuaco indigenous person, who is a member of the Academy and is also advancing with its investigations,” he pointed out.

Another of the projects they work on from the Upar Valley History Academy has to do with promoting research, approaching educational institutions and universities, so that children and young people know that the capital of Cesar had a Constitution.
