The major Stations of the Cross in the city of Hernandarias, considered the largest religious festival of Holy Week in Alto Paraná and declared by the Municipality of Hernandarias as an event of heritage, cultural and district interest, was carried out with success and splendor at night on Good Friday, with a massive participation of the parishioners.

The procession was meticulously organized, with a path lit by candles and torches; In addition, the use of clothing and allegories alluding to the Stations of the Cross.

The traditional Stations of the Cross began in the Sacred Heart of Jesus parish, in Area 6 of Hernandarias, where the allegorical groups left to recreate the passion and death of Jesus on a majestic path.

Volunteers from the parishes of Hernandarias carried out the procession, with costumes and allegories, to remember the 14 stations that remember Jesus’ journey to his crucifixion, with songs, prayers and noises of noisemakers.

The procession extended for approximately one kilometer until it reached the Nuestra Señora de Asunción church, in the center of the city, and passed along a path illuminated by candles and homemade torches.

While the volunteers staged the procession, hundreds of parishioners accompanied the journey, some with torches. Meanwhile, other faithful were waiting for the procession on the way to take part in one of the most significant religious events in the city.

Parishioners wore striking outfits to impersonate various actors in Christian history. In addition, the procession of the images of Christ and Saint Mary.

The Hernandarias Stations of the Cross is the main religious activity on the occasion of Holy Week in Alto Paraná and has become a tourist attraction in the region. Each edition brings together thousands of parishioners and visitors.
