Tian Yun: Sina Weibo fined by the CCP’s Cyberspace Administration for avoiding details | Peng Shuai | CCP Internet Censorship

[The Epoch Times, December 15, 2021]On December 14, the Cyberspace Administration of the Communist Party of China issued the results of penalties on Sina Weibo, stating that “Recently, Sina Weibo and its accounts have repeatedly appeared information that is prohibited by laws and regulations from publishing or transmitting. , The plot is serious”. The Beijing Municipal Office of Cyberspace Affairs also imposed a fine of 3 million yuan on the microblog operator Beijing Weimeng Chuangke Network Technology Co., Ltd. However, the Cyberspace Administration of China did not mention the specific content of violations of laws and regulations, not even one example, which is a bit confusing.

According to French analysis, tennis player Peng Shuai exposed his lover relationship with Zhang Gaoli on Weibo on November 2 this year. The incident caused strong reactions at home and abroad, and it is likely that the punishment will be incurred.

In fact, Peng Shuai’s post was deleted by Sina Weibo 20 minutes after it was posted. At the same time, all Peng Shuai Weibo comment areas were closed; searches for Peng Shuai and Zhang Gaoli on Weibo could not display relevant news. It can be seen that Weibo has worked very hard to delete information that is unfavorable to the party. However, the 20 minutes of information remaining before the Winter Olympics caused the CCP’s image to plummet. It is estimated that the “serious circumstances” lies here.

According to Lu Media reports, Sina Weibo responded to reporters saying: Sincerely accept criticism from the competent authorities, set up a rectification and implementation work group, and will promote special rectification of pornographic information, and effectively identify and intercept pornographic information.

The “soft pornography” mentioned on Weibo seems to match Zhang Gaoli’s scandal. Some people ridicule, Peng Shuai’s Weibo is worth 3 million.

Since the advent of Weibo, deletion of posts and titles have followed all the way. A mainland netizen said: “Weibo is not a Chinese innovation, but deletion of posts is; search is not a Chinese innovation, but filtering and bidding rankings are.”

Even so, the authorities are not satisfied with Weibo. From January to November this year, Sina Weibo was fined 44 times, with a total fine of 14.3 million yuan.

Under the CCP’s rule, all industries are walking on thin ice. There are restricted areas and red lines everywhere. The party says that you are “violating regulations”, which means that you are “violating regulations.”

Recently, the CCP has strengthened its supervision of online platforms, and Tencent, Douban, Xiaohongshu, Douyin, etc. are all interviewed and (or) fined. This shows that the CCP is extremely afraid of the flow of information. Today, various social media connect hundreds of millions of netizens. It is not difficult for the mainland to communicate with overseas. It is almost impossible for the CCP to monitor without blind spots. Therefore, it can only rely on administrative orders and fines as a curse.

The Office of the Cyberspace Administration of China stated that “it will insist on managing the network in accordance with the law… to protect the legitimate rights and interests of the people, and to maintain a clear sky in the cyberspace.”

This remark is very high-sounding. The public has to ask, if what Peng Shuai said is true, who will protect her rights? Shouldn’t an official with depraved morals be punished? ? It is unfair to block one party’s voice alone.

On April 18, 2019, the mainland “Southern Weekend” published an article “Jinan: the Rising Internet Censorship Capital”, referring to Jinan as the “censorship capital” after Tianjin. There, thousands of review editors filter current affairs news 24 hours a day, and more and more texts, pictures, videos, and live broadcasts are sent to Jinan for review, and then broadcast to the whole country. This report was soon deleted from the mainland website, and it must have been a “violation.”

Sina Weibo was fined, reflecting the malformed online ecology under the CCP’s governance. The laws and regulations formulated by the CCP are not based on universal values, but are guided by party culture and prerequisite for maintaining party rule. The CCP’s Internet censorship blocks the truth, stifles freedom of speech, and also involves crimes that violate human rights.

A typical example is the experience of Sichuan human rights activist Huang Qi. Huang Qi founded the “June 4th Net” that focuses on the human rights situation in China. This website was the first to publicly publish reports on the human rights violations of Falun Gong practitioners at the end of the last century. Huang Qi actively participated in the Wenchuan disaster relief activities and exposed the “tofu residue” project on the Internet. Therefore, he was arrested three times and sentenced three times. On July 29, 2019, Huang Qi was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

In June 2015, the well-known Guangdong blogger “Hua Xia Zhengdao” (Zheng Jingxian) was arrested for commenting on current affairs on Sina Weibo. In December 2016, he was illegally sentenced to three and a half years in prison. Zheng Jingxian said: “When a person speaks the truth and becomes a criminal, it is not my shame, but the shame of the entire civilized society. It is a shame to be guilty of words, to imprison words, and to violate the freedom of belief is against the universal values of mankind and the Chinese people. The Constitution of the Republic, this case is totally unfounded…”

These words are worthy of everyone’s thoughts. The CCP promotes atheism, destroys traditional values, advocates violence, and continuously creates lies. Such a party is not qualified to review information at all, so why should we talk about “clearness of the sky”?
