Tim Cook surprises with a video appearance at the premiere of the new Porsche Taycan Turbo GT | News

Tue, 5:13 p.m. · Other · meApple and Porsche have been working together for a while on CarPlay integration. The Porsche Taycan was already the flagship for the software solution from Cupertino in 2020. Now the two companies are setting another joint milestone: the tailor-made “Race Engineer Cockpit” app is intended to help the driver receive even better support in difficult situations. The application could be admired during the presentation of the Taycan Turbo GT, the most powerful series vehicle that Porsche has ever built.

Everything in view
The responsible race engineer is now in the process of taking part in the race virtually using the Vision Pro. The viewer has the opportunity to follow the driver’s perspective while being accompanied by important statistics and the route map in 3D. Porsche boss Oliver Blume thanked Apple for the good cooperation during the presentation and Tim Cook was present at the presentation to respond with congratulations. These were primarily for a record that was set almost incidentally on the race track. On that day, Porsche set a new lap record for electric cars and Blume was able to follow the event not only on TV, but also in real time on the Vision Pro – which was an impressive racing experience from the driver’s perspective.

Potential for “revolution”
Cook himself described this technological step as a “milestone that shows the world what can happen when incredibly committed people come together to break new ground with a big idea.” He remains convinced that spatial computing has the potential to “revolutionize virtually every industry” – today we only see one way in which the Vision Pro “makes the impossible possible”. At the launch, Blume also announced that the racing application would be made available to every “Apple Vision Pro” user and in the same breath spoke of “some surprises” that could also be expected.
