Policeman gets on the vehicle running on the Brindisi-Lecce state road
(ANSA) – BRINDISI, APRIL 12 – Scenes from James Bond on the 379 Bari-Lecce state road where an agent from the Ostuni (Brindisi) police station entered the driver’s cab of a moving articulated lorry, which proceeded in a zig-zag, and he rescued the unconscious driver: he took the driver’s foot off the accelerator and stopped the heavy vehicle from running. The timely intervention of the police also avoided possible serious road accidents a few kilometers from Brindisi.
The agents realized that something was wrong after seeing debris on the roadway and for the zig-zag maneuvers of the heavy vehicle. They immediately perceived the presence of immediate dangers for the circulation. They managed to reach the truck, albeit with considerable difficulty, one of them opened the door of the tractor in which the driver was found unconscious. The policeman then crawled into the cabin, took the driver’s foot off the accelerator and shut the vehicle off. Thus it was possible to carry out the first rescue maneuvers, practicing cardiac massage to the truck driver who, in a few moments, partially resumed breathing regularly. At the same time, with the service car placed sideways, it was possible to block road traffic and allow help to arrive. The truck driver was transferred by ambulance to the Brindisi hospital.
