Tübingen record results at the Deutschlandticket anniversary

The Deutschlandticket is celebrating its first anniversary and since its introduction there has been a special offer in Tübingen: residents can get the D-Ticket cheaper. As a result, the number of subscribers has increased significantly, the Stadtwerke Tübingen reports: The city increased the subsidy of ten euros per ticket for the introduction by a further five euros in August 2023, and since then Tübingen residents have been traveling on local and regional transport through Germany for 34 euros a month. In April 2024 alone, around 21,400 subscriptions for the Tübingen variants of the D-Ticket were serviced in the Naldo subscription center at Stadtwerke Tübingen. In April 2023, the Naldo subscription center still had over 9,900 subscriptions in the Naldo tariff, including subscriptions to the Tübingen city tariff and an additional 2,100 to the Jugendticket-BW Tübingen. With the introduction of the Deutschlandticket, the number of subscribers rose sharply: Most recently, around 28,100 Deutschlandtickets – including around 21,400 D-Tickets Tübingen – were sold in various versions in April. Compared to April 2023, the number of subscriptions increased by over 130 percent. Mayor Boris Palmer rates the discounted Germany tickets as a complete success: “The increase in long-term customers for the Tübus exceeds all expectations. This will help us make the city center more livable and achieve our climate protection goals.” Tübus department head Sabine Boßdorf is also satisfied with the results so far: “Many subscribers use the offer to leave their car at home and instead go to the to get on the bus. This not only protects your wallet, but also the environment.”
