It is an innovative and undoubtedly original project, for now unique in Italy, the one presented today at the Egyptian Museum, a project from an idea of the Foundation for Architecture in which the Compagnia di San Paolo strongly believes with the collaboration of the Order of doctors, who enthusiastically joined with the voluntary participation of family doctors from Turin who gave their willingness to visit patients in the clinics set up inside the museums.
For now there are five cultural places where doctors’ clinics will be: in addition to the Egyptian museum, the Mauto, the Primo Levi Library, the Pav, the Living Art Park, the Polo del 900 will participate. The project is called Basic Culture. “In these years of pandemic we have understood that culture is central. We have become increasingly convinced that beautiful places can also find new functions. The museum is not only what we have thought so far, projects like this can demonstrate that culture is more and more an investment “explains Francesco Profumo, president of the Compagnia di San Paolo.
For the president of the Order of Doctors Guido Giustetto, a visit to the museum can be an opportunity for a visit, “perhaps free”. For now, the project is experimental and will be evaluated, analyzing numbers and satisfaction, but also the quality of the relationship between doctor and patient, if it improves in a place such as a museum. Work began on the project two years ago, says Eleonora Gerbotto, president of the Foundation for Architecture: “We did not want to bring culture to health resorts, but vice versa and this is the innovative scope of this idea. of strong emotions “.
Giustetto recalls the first evaluations: “We had some doubts in proposing an activity of this type to our colleagues when the commitment was enormous to tackle the pandemic, because when we started to think about it, the second wave of Covid was underway. But it’s a lot more important now because a project like this can help doctors rediscover their role, the beauty from which to start again after a very difficult period “.
