It is certainly a first partial balance that will be updated in the coming weeks: 15 days after its entry into force, however, the benefits of the mandatory green pass are not yet seen to sit at the table of an indoor restaurant, go to see an exhibition in a museum, bathe in a swimming pool. Coronavirus epidemiological data from August 6 to 20 show a worsening compared to the previous two weeks: new cases have increased (+17,8%), the rate of positivity (0,42%) and the total number of deaths (+262).
The peak and vaccination coverage
For experts, the plateau of the contagion curve was reached around August 15th and a slow descent is expected. But, pending the extension of green vaccination to other sectors since September 1st (long-distance transport), as repeated by theHigher Institute of Health, “A higher vaccination coverage and the completion of vaccination cycles represent the main tools to prevent further recurrences of episodes of increased circulation of the virus supported by emerging variants with greater transmissibility”, namely the Delta variant, prevalent in Italy and dominant in the Union
European.

The government’s goal is to achieve80% (over 12 years) of immunized by the end of September. At the moment the vaccination course was completed by the 66,91% of the population over 12. With an average (at seven days) dropped to 206.857 daily doses the milestone would be reached on 3 October.
The comparison: numbers still deteriorating
At the moment, an increase in the numbers that measure the epidomological crisis has yet to be recorded: on 6 August, the first day of the green pass, 6.599 new cases. Two weeks later (and fifteen days of mandatory green pass for most social activities) the new cases are 7.224. Even the rate of positivity, if you compare the two dates, marks an increase as you pass 2,7 al 3,3%. There were 277 hospitalized in intensive care 53 on August 6, 455 on August 20. The dead doubled: from 24 to 49.
The ratios do not change if the two overall periods are taken into consideration. A total of 79,903 cases had been registered between 22 July and 5 August. From August 6 (first day of mandatory green pass) at August 20 the new positives were 94.164, +17,8%. The ratio of positives to total swabs went from 2,58% al 3%. Casualties are also on the rise and have doubled as they pass from 258 a 520.
