This year’s No. 7 typhoon “Chapaka” has been strengthened to a typhoon level at 23:00 on July 19, with a maximum wind force of 12 near the center, reaching a wind speed of 33 meters per second. It is expected that “Chapaca” will slowly approach the Pearl River estuary to the coast of western Guangdong, and it is likely to make landfall in the coastal area from Zhuhai to Maoming from noon to night on the 20th.

In view of the development trend and impact of typhoons, the Guangdong Provincial Flood and Drought Prevention and Wind Prevention Headquarters Office and the Guangdong Provincial Emergency Management Department decided to upgrade the windproof level IV emergency response to the windproof level III emergency response at 0:00 on July 20.

As of 2 a.m. on July 20, 52 typhoon warnings have come into effect in Guangdong Province. Among them, there are 3 typhoon red warnings, including the three cities of Yangjiang, Yangxi, and Taishan.

The emergency management department reminded the public to pay attention to wind and rain, reduce going out, and implement various typhoon prevention measures in various places to minimize disaster losses. (Headquarters reporter Wu Meimiao and Zhu Zirong)
