Urso authorizes the awarding of the former Blutec site to Pelligra Holding Italia

The project aims to relaunch the industrial center of Termini Imerese

The Minister of Business and Made in Italy, Adolfo Ursusfollowing the identification by the Extraordinary Commissioners and following the opinion of the Supervisory Committee, authorized today the completion of the deed of transfer of the Termini Imerese business branch of Blutec Spa in Extraordinary Administration at Pelligra Italia Holding Srlas the winner of the tender.

The assignment is part of a broader project to relaunch the industrial center of Termini Imerese which concerns, in addition to the redevelopment of the industrial area, the strengthening of the port and the development of an integrated interport in the area.

The plan of Pelligra Holding Italia Srl, compared to the other offers received (5 in total) was the only one fully compliant with the tender regulations, with an offer of 8 million euros and the provision of hiring at least 350 former Blutec employees , currently on redundancy pay, with a guarantee of employment for the next 24 months.

THE INVESTOR
Pelligra Italia Holding Srl is an Italian subsidiary of the Australian company Pelligra Australia PTY LTD which operates in the commercial, industrial and residential real estate development sector. The Australian company was founded in 1960 and specializes in reconversion and redevelopment of industrial areas – including abandoned ones – through their transformation into industrial parks.

The company has demonstrated its experience by redeveloping two large Ford Australia automotive plants in Australia, in Campbellfield and Geelong, covering over 33 hectares, regenerating the areas into latest generation industrial hubs. Also in Australia, the Pelligra Group has created one of the largest business districts in the country, the Lionsgate Business Park, which extends for 123 hectares.

THE PROJECT FOR TERMI IMERESE
Pelligra Holding Italia Srl has proposed a real estate conversion project in order to create a high-tech industrial district to be used for mixed commercial/manufacturing use with a purchase price of 8 million and hiring at least 350 employeescurrently on redundancy pay.

In addition to the reconversion of the industrial site, the project to relaunch the Termini Imerese hub is broader and also includes connections with the port of Termini Imerese, which has been commercially strengthened thanks to the move of the container station from the port of Palermo, and which therefore it will become the main commercial port of western Sicily starting from next November. The interport will instead allow different modes of transport to be combined (road, rail, sea), making it the intermodal center of gravity of a large production area.

With reference to the Pelligra Industrial Plan and the related business plan, there will be two phases of intervention:

The first concerns the redevelopment of industrial factories with the help of the absorbed and trained workforce (at least 350 units); The second concerns the diversification of the subjects to be established in the industrial complex. In this phase, the same workers already involved in the reconversion of the sites will be able to find positions.

Mimit – together with the local public system (Sicily Region and Municipality of Termini Imerese) – will deploy its tools to support and accompany the redevelopment work of the area in the coming months so as to be able to reach a goal of full employment and of resumption of important manufacturing and logistics activities.
