The introduction of the reinforced green pass, the vaccination obligation extended to new categories of workers and the fears related to the Omicron variant of the coronavirus are slowly eroding the audience of those who have so far escaped anti-Covid immunization. Thus for the first time the share of “no vax” (among the population over 12 years old) falls below 6 million. From the data of Lab24 it appears that they are still waiting for the first dose 6.346 million from which, however, the share of those who have been healed for a maximum of six months must be subtracted (368mila from the numbers provided on the government website). The result is just under six million: 5,997.
The comparison with October
For the experts this is still a worrying number even if in sharp reduction compared to the situation in the recent past: two months ago (the first week of October) the people who had not adhered to the vaccination were over 8 million. In December the number of first doses increased compared to the November trend and so far has recorded an average of almost 32mil daily injections, twice as much as in the corresponding period of November.
The age groups
In absolute terms, the most numerous no vax category remains that of 40-year-olds: 1.333 million they are still without any dose (they were 1.702 million sixty days ago). In second place the fifties 1,134 (-300 thousand compared to October), followed by the youngest, namely the 12-19 age group: a million awaits the dose but there were 400 thousand more until two months ago.
Boys and girls under the age of twenty have the primacy for the highest percentage of “zero vaccinated”: the 21,8%. But it should be remembered that for them access to immunization came later. The 15,2% of forty-year-olds resist vaccination, a slightly lower percentage among thirty-year-olds (14,5%).
The regions
The photograph of the unvaccinated among the Regions confirms Sicily in the lead with the 18% population over 12 years out of immunization, followed by Calabria (16,6%) and from South Tyrol (15,6%).
