The slots made available from midnight on Tuesday 2 June burned down in a few hours. The pressure of the Ulss continues on the category of sixty-year-olds
BELLUNO. The opening of reservations for the age groups from 12 to 39 years was scheduled for midnight on Tuesday, but someone, faster on the computer keyboard, managed to reserve a seat a few minutes before the fateful zero hour. And luck for him, because, time a few minutes and the system literally went haywire, forcing parents and children to stay late to get the fateful appointment at one of the five vaccination centers in the province.
Ulss 1 Dolomites, as per national and regional indications, it initially made 7,500 places available for citizens ranging from 12 to 39 years of age. Seats that were immediately sold out, so much so that yesterday afternoon the health company reopened other slots until reaching 8,270 reservations. Additional places will be activated in the coming days, based on the availability of serum.
The first vaccinations for this age group will begin approximately in mid-June, ending in early August. But it is not excluded that other closer dates may open, if slots reserved for exempt tickets are not used. “This is a numerically important age group,” he stresses the director of the Prevention Department, Sandro Cinquetti, «in the province we have just under 50,000 under 40s. This is why we have fielded significant quantities of the vaccine, even though we have to ensure the second scheduled doses for other age groups ».
Making predictions on how the campaign will go for the under 40s is difficult even if “going down with the age groups, the perception of risk is not the same: it is true that among children the perception of the risk of getting sick decreases, but the sense of usefulness of immunization for social mobility “. And in the summer, you know, many young people would like to be more free to move.
The current month, therefore, will be a particularly busy month for the prophylaxis campaign against Covid, given that now all age groups can book their vaccination session.
But that’s not all, because from today 4 June, slots dedicated to tourism workers will also be open. “Quantities of vaccine have been reserved for the hospitality and catering categories, which need an acceleration in prophylaxis, in order to be able to relate to tourists without any problem”, says Cinquetti, who reiterates the importance that most of the population is vaccines as quickly as possible.
Gli over 60
Sixty-year-olds remain those most reluctant to get vaccinated. «We maintain a high level of attention with the aim of encouraging those who have not yet undergone the vaccination to book their session. From the checks we have done, however, it appears that many people have not been vaccinated because they have had Covid, so they feel immunized. But is not so”. The Ulss is also verifying who, among those born between 1952 and 1961, did not have Coronavirus and did not adhere to prophylaxis: “They are the people most at risk and they have the highest priority”.
For today, 4 June, ad hoc sessions with free access are planned for this category, organized by the district doctors in Sospirolo, from 9.30 to 11, and in Quero Vas, from 14.30 to 16.
The ULSS, meanwhile, is increasing the pace of inoculations: more than 2,100 doses were administered yesterday.
