Venezuelan Foreign Policy Forum calls for joint action by the international community after attack on María Corina Machado’s team

«The Venezuelan Foreign Policy Forum, given the serious situation of detentions and arrest warrants for the members of Vente Venezuela, demands that the international community, civil society, political parties and the population in general express their greatest repudiation of these actions. “illegal and arbitrary actions conducted through the questioned attorney general’s office in what has become a systematic practice of state terrorism.” This was said by the Venezuelan Foreign Policy Forum in a statement.

In this way, the forum rejected the recent arrest warrants issued by the Venezuelan government against the members of the campaign command of the presidential candidate María Corina Machado.

«All this occurs in the context of serious calls from countries and international organizations, among them what was expressed in a recent session of the UN Fact-Finding Commission on Venezuela, which ratifies once again the serious violations of human rights among them the civilians and politicians, which has been happening incessantly and with total impunity in the country.

Furthermore, the forum maintained that “once again the regime makes a mockery of its international commitments to the guarantor and companion countries of the Barbados Agreement, to the political opposition that has acted with rectitude and integrity, and to the Venezuelan people who on October 22, 2023 placed its trust in the only candidate with proven popular support, María Corina Machado.

“This is why the FVPE requests that the international community not only express its concern, but also promote joint action with national democratic factors to prevent the consolidation of a dictatorship that further affects the freedom and rights of Venezuelans and increases concerns about regional peace and security,” he added.
