SALERNO. “Only” 273 new coronavirus cases in one week. To find such a datum, we need to take a trip back in time by almost a year, to last August, when the virus began to make its strength felt again, “flowing” then in that second wave, the beginning of a nightmare that lasted until recently. Now, however, the province of Salerno can smile: this is confirmed, once again as has been happening for over a month, by the aggregate numbers of the daily reports of the Crisis Unit of the Campania Region. In the last week, in fact, there has been yet another minimum of new infections in the area that goes from Scafati to Sapri. A sign that the contagion curve is further decreasing in view of the entry of Campania into the “white zone”.
The new data. As mentioned, there are 273 cases of positivity to Covid ascertained in the province of Salerno from 7 to 13 June by the swabs “sieved” by the laboratories accredited by Palazzo Santa Lucia. This low rate emerged by checking 6,077 diagnostic tests: along with cases, week after week, the “molecular” tests performed are also decreasing. Another sign of the lesser impact of the virus. The weekly positivity rate, therefore, stood at 4.33%, in line with the previous values. To make people smile even more, then, there is the daily average of new confirmed cases: they were 39 in the last seven days compared to a “constancy” of tests analyzed every twenty-four hours equal to 868.
All values are lowered. The epidemiological situation, therefore, improves. And to understand it also numerically, just look at the aggregate data of the previous weeks. The last one is enough, the one between 30 May and 6 June: at that time, in fact, 331 new cases of Covid were discovered in the 158 municipalities of the province of Salerno, 58 more than what emerged from the most recent “bulletins”. Although the positivity rate was slightly lower (equal to 4.33%, the result of 7,640 swabs analyzed in seven days), there was also an improvement in the daily average of new infections: now they are 39, just a few days ago there were 47. But if you go even further back in time, without going too far, you notice the significant and constant improvement of all the values: from 24 to 30 May, in fact, 476 new infections were ascertained in the Salerno area (203 more than at the last value) with a positive rate of 4.59%. In the middle of the previous month, when the light really began to be seen again after a winter and a spring of great suffering, the situation was much more critical: 698 cases ascertained between 17 and 23 May (+425) and a positive rate equal to 5%. To understand how peaceful the picture is, just compare these data: last May 13, exactly one month ago, 176 new cases were ascertained in twenty-four hours.
