Wagenknecht says Merkel’s “We can do it” has been “long refuted”

The Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW) calls for close monitoring of the integration of refugees. Wagenknecht told the German Press Agency in Dresden on Monday that she expects Saxon Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU) and the other state leaders to put pressure on Berlin.

The integration of refugees can only be successful if people quickly take up employment that is subject to social insurance contributions and are not permanently dependent on social benefits.

Wagenknecht calls Merkel’s statement “long refuted”

“The fact that the federal government is simply unaware of how many of those who came to the country since 2015 are now employed is absurd and irresponsible towards the federal states, which, together with municipalities and citizens, have to pay for uncontrolled migration,” emphasized the politician.

Back then, former Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) formulated the “long-refuted sentence”: “We can do it.” The following apparently applies to the ministry of Labor Minister Hubertus Heil (SPD): “We would rather not know. Eyes shut and go for it.”
