Since its inception, the Vallenato Festival has been a magnet for thousands of people seeking to immerse themselves in the cultural richness of Vallenato folklore. To the rhythm of accordions, songs and dances, the streets of Valledupar are transformed into a vibrant scene where music and joy reign supreme. And to accompany this explosion of emotions, nothing better than a good whiskey.
According to Francisco Torres, Brand Manager of Glenfiddich in Colombia, whiskey has become an essential drink during the festival, thanks to its unique flavor and aroma that perfectly complement the joy and vallenato spirit.

Tips for enjoying whiskey at the Vallenato Festival
Patricio Calzada, Brand Ambassador of the same Scottish brand, offers some tips for selecting and tasting the right whiskey during the festival:
Temperature: Ambient temperature plays a crucial role in the whiskey experience. In warm climates like Valledupar, it is recommended to opt for whiskeys with fruity notes and serve them with ice, sparkling water or drinks such as Ginger Ale or Ginger Beer to achieve a sensation of freshness.
Time of day: For moments of rumba, Calzada suggests whiskeys with sweet and caramel notes, while for the end of the day, he recommends deeper and more sophisticated whiskeys that accompany conversations with friends and family.
Pairing: Whiskey pairs perfectly with the region’s typical cuisine, such as chicharrones, empanadas, roast beef, fried yucca, arepas, costeño cheese and clean buns.

Responsible consumption
Calzada also calls for consuming whiskey responsibly, taking into account the ambient temperature and avoiding excess alcohol. In addition, he recommends alternating the consumption of whiskey with water and food, and not driving under the influence of alcohol.
