Wild boars clear the meadow of Cà Praudin: “Never seen damage like this”

Vaucluse. The large garden devastated, the raid in the night The owner: “A disaster, I couldn’t believe my eyes”

VALCHIUSA. Bitter surprise for Monica Vallesa, owner of the Cà Praudin restaurant, returning with her family after a short vacation. Reaching the place, in the Inverso hamlet, in the Municipality of Valchiusa, he discovered that the well-kept lawn, almost English-style, in front of the place had been completely turned over by wild boars during their nocturnal raid.

“I felt like crying, in front of the picture of devastation that presented itself to my eyes – she said -. Never seen such a thing. I don’t know how many ungulates must have been, to reduce the soil in those conditions. I think at least about fifteen. The lawn looked like a freshly plowed field, says the restaurateur. And the situation would have become even more complicated if our restaurant still had to host wedding dinners, with the arrangement of part of the diners also outside the structure ».

Monica Vallesa is well aware that if for her restaurant the lawn only represents more space available, the situation is very different for the farmers. In fact, he explains: «I know Margari Valchiusellesi who from evening to morning found themselves with large areas of lawn devastated by the action of wild boars. And for them grass is an indispensable resource for feeding their livestock ».

Meanwhile, the lawn of Cà Praudin will have to be completely restored and, at a later stage, re-sown. «We hope, then, that once the ground has been restored to the conditions prior to the raid of the ungulates, they will not return to the charge again. If that were the case, we would really have to cry ”, concludes the owner of the restaurant.

And, again on the subject of wild boars and their hunting, Coldiretti protested against the Region for the plan to contain ungulates. In fact, they say from the farmers’ association: «On the new plan drawn up by the Region, we have absolutely not been questioned. According to them, we should have accepted it in a poke. No, as it was presented to us, it has major gaps. The document could have been significantly improved if they had listened to us ». GIACOMO GROSSO
