Wuhan, China – In a concerted effort to crack down on illegal parking and charging of electric bicycles, Wuhan’s fire, public security, and emergency departments conducted a city-wide inspection on February 28th. A total of 124 inspection teams were mobilized to investigate densely populated areas, “nine small places,” and residential areas, with a particular focus on conducting night checks.

During the inspections, a staggering 904 fire hazards were discovered, prompting urgent rectifications to be made. Measures were taken to address issues such as the illegal charging of electric bicycles in corridors, the management of safe passages, and the duty of the fire control room in various districts across the city.

In Wuchang District, the supervision team emphasized the importance of residents’ awareness of safe charging practices for electric vehicles. Meanwhile, in Hanyang District, attention was given to the implementation of fire safety management responsibilities and the formulation of emergency plans.

Hongshan District saw a focus on managing electric bicycles and ensuring the safety of passages, while Jianghan District inspected the setting and management of electric bicycle parking and charging areas. Jiang’an District, on the other hand, conducted spot checks on electric bicycle parking spaces and charging facilities in schools and residential buildings.

Throughout the night, grassroots emergency response forces joined the effort, leading to the discovery of 676 rectified fire hazards, with the remaining issues currently being addressed. The city’s comprehensive inspection aimed to prevent fire accidents and ensure the safety of the residents in Wuhan.
