President Xi Jinping Holds Talks with President Simina of the Federated States of Micronesia
Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, April 9 (Reporter Yang Yijun) – On the afternoon of April 9, President Xi Jinping held talks at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing with President Simina of the Federated States of Micronesia, who was in China for a state visit.
During the talks, President Xi Jinping highlighted the strong and respectful relationship between China and FSM, which have been celebrating the 35th anniversary of their diplomatic relations this year. China has always supported FSM in areas such as national sovereignty, economic development, and improving people’s livelihood. President Xi expressed China’s willingness to further enhance cooperation and dialogue at all levels and push for a new level of China-FSM relations.
President Simina, on the other hand, expressed gratitude for China’s long-term assistance to his country and other Pacific island nations. He reaffirmed FSM’s commitment to the one-China principle and support for China in various core interest issues. Both leaders witnessed the signing of bilateral cooperation documents on various fields, including the joint construction of the “Belt and Road” initiative.
The visit concluded with a welcome banquet hosted by President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan for President Simina and his wife, followed by various ceremonial activities in Tiananmen Square.
The “Joint Statement between the People’s Republic of China and the Federated States of Micronesia” was issued, highlighting the continued cooperation and friendship between the two nations.
The visit of President Simina to China marks a significant step in strengthening the relationship between the two countries and fostering mutual cooperation for the benefit of their peoples and the region.
