Xi Jinping Champions Central Region’s Progress in New Era Symposium
In a pivotal event on March 20th, Xi Jinping, the General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of the State, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, led a symposium on advancing the rise of the central region in the new era. The symposium, held in Changsha City, Hunan Province, saw the participation of top officials including Li Qiang, Cai Qiding, and Xue Xiang.
During the symposium, Xi Jinping highlighted the central region’s crucial role as a key grain production base, energy raw material base, modern equipment manufacturing and high-tech industrial base, and comprehensive transportation hub in China. He emphasized the importance of implementing policies to boost the region’s development and urged for a collective effort to achieve high-quality growth and shape a new phase of progress in the central region within China’s modernization drive.
Various officials, including representatives from the National Development and Reform Commission and provincial party committees, shared their insights and suggestions on propelling the central region’s development. Xi Jinping commended the region’s achievements over the past five years, emphasizing the need to address existing challenges and propel the region to greater heights.
Key areas of focus highlighted by Xi Jinping included enhancing scientific and technological innovation, promoting ecological protection and green development, strengthening rural revitalization, and ensuring high-quality development alongside high-level security. He stressed the importance of deepening reforms, opening up new avenues for cooperation, and creating a sustainable environment for growth in the central region.
The symposium concluded with speeches from Li Qiang and Ding Xuexiang, who echoed Xi Jinping’s call for concerted efforts to drive the central region’s development forward. The event was also attended by prominent figures such as Li Ganjie, He Lifeng, Wu Zhenglong, and Mu Hong, along with representatives from central and state agencies, local authorities, and relevant enterprises.
