What the old woman – an 80-year-old lady from Zoppola – could not imagine was that she had been chosen as the victim of a scam orchestrated in Naples. The carabinieri managed to unmask him.
The activity of the investigative unit of Pordenone, led by Lieutenant Colonel Pier Luigi Grosseto, began last December, when the old woman realized that she had been the victim of a scam with the technique of “false lawyer and false police marshal “. After the phone call, the lady was joined by two men to whom she had given gold jewelry.
The investigations of the carabinieri, coordinated by the prosecutor Federico Facchin, made it possible to reconstruct part of the story: the two, who according to the investigators are part of a criminal association, had hired a small car. Hours and hours of video surveillance footage were viewed to locate the license plate. The analysis of the fingerprints was decisive, thanks to which it was possible to trace the occupants: Raffaele Boccalà, 34, already known to the police, and Adolfo Salzano, 45, with a clean record.
Thanks to the clues collected by the carabinieri – including the telephone records with the numbers of the two men and other mobile phones in the process of being identified – the prosecutor asked, with investigations still in progress, two precautionary custody measures. Measures that the judge for preliminary investigations ordered and which the carabinieri followed up. Salzano, defended by the lawyer Olga Fabris, admitted the objections in front of the investigating judge and was released with the obligation to sign. Domiciliary for Boccalà, who availed himself of the right not to answer. The investigations continued with the verifications of some “gold buyers” in the Neapolitan area which allowed to recover part of the victim’s jewels and other jewels on which the military are investigating.
