The mainland official media reported the incident, but the focus was on “maintaining stability” and highlighting the leadership’s actions, such as “rush to the scene as soon as possible, organize on-site disposal, and evacuate the people around the factory area”, “after-treatment work proceeded in an orderly manner” and so on. Surprisingly, the official media stated that “at present, there are no casualties or loss of contact”
Why did the explosion happen? According to Lu Media, at about 4 a.m. that day, “the water level of the Yinghe River near the company Dengdian Group Aluminum Alloy Co., Ltd., which was involved in the incident, soared and exceeded the warning level. Organize personnel to evacuate safely. At 6 o’clock, the high-temperature solution in the alloy tank in the factory area exploded due to flooding.”
This explanation is suspicious. Doubt 1: If the flood caused the explosion, did the plant take into account the safety issues during the flood season during construction? Has there been a similar crisis before? Has the company conducted relevant safety drills?
