Uwe Koschinat remains coach at VfL Osnabrück. As the relegation-threatened second division soccer team announced on Tuesday, the 52-year-old has signed a non-league contract with Lower Saxony. The club did not provide any information about the term.
“Uwe fits VfL and Brücke as a type and person. His non-league commitment to VfL speaks for him and his character. I look forward to continuing to work with Uwe as head coach of VfL,” said sports director Philipp Kaufmann.
Four game days before the end of the season, VfL is in last place in the 2nd league with 24 points, eight points behind the saving bank. It is hardly possible for the “Purple-Whites” to stay in the league, especially since the relegation place is already seven points away.
“I have never made a secret of the fact that I enjoy working at and for VfL incredibly much. I am pleased that I will be able to coach on the sidelines at VfL beyond the summer,” says Uwe Koschinat, who last year November took over the head coaching position at Osnabrück.
Koschinat: “Focus on the remaining league games”
“After clarifying my personal future, the focus remains on the remaining league games, in which we want to get as many points as possible regardless of the final outcome of the season,” explained Koschinat, who will be playing with his team on Sunday (1:30 p.m., in the NDR Livecenter) at the 1. FC Magdeburg competes. “At the same time, we are working on medium-term planning beyond the summer.”
