Cameroon’s football boss Samuel Eto’o is repeatedly confronted with allegations of match-fixing and physical threats. The team was eliminated early from the Africa Cup of Nations. Eto’o would have liked to draw conclusions, but the association is not playing along.

Former national player Samuel Eto’o has failed in an offer to resign as president of the Cameroon Football Association. After the disappointing round of 16 exit at the Africa Cup of Nations against Nigeria (0-2) and repeated allegations against him, the 42-year-old offered his resignation at a meeting of the executive committee, as Cameroon’s association announced.

The statement goes on to say that this was unanimously rejected by the other members of the committee. The association has confidence that Eto’o will continue to promote the development of Cameroonian football.

The former national player has led the association as president since 2021. Recently, the former Champions League winner was repeatedly confronted with serious allegations, including in relation to his role as an ambassador for a sports betting company. The association declared in August that it wanted to examine the allegations.
