American athletes share the experience of living in the Winter Paralympic Village, full of details on barrier-free facilities
Overseas Network, March 1. The curtain of the Beijing Winter Paralympics is about to kick off. On February 28, Kyle Sic, a Paralympic ice hockey player from the United States, shared what he saw and heard in the Winter Paralympic Village. In his photos, all kinds of barrier-free facilities are full of details, showing humanistic care.
Kyle Sitch posted a total of 7 photos on the overseas social platform “Photo Wall” that day. In addition to having a happy group photo with the logos of the International Paralympic Committee “Tri-color Ribbon” and “Xue Rongrong”, he also took a close-up of the vertical ladder and barrier-free passage, and took a picture of the bedroom.
It can be seen from the photos that, unlike the bedrooms of the athletes in the Winter Olympic Village, the pillows in this bedroom have changed from “Bing Dun Dun” to “Xue Rong Rong”, and the bed is also lower. It turned out that in order to provide a good barrier-free experience for athletes in wheelchairs, the feet of the beds they used were lowered by 10 cm compared with the Winter Olympics, making it easier to get on and off.
It is understood that on February 25, the three Winter Paralympic Villages in Beijing, Yanqing and Zhangjiakou were officially opened. The Winter Paralympic Village has fully taken into account the needs of disabled athletes in terms of accommodation and security checks, and the internal facilities are very user-friendly. Provide a safe, warm and comfortable environment for Winter Paralympic athletes, so that they can feel the warmth of the “athlete’s home”. (Liu Qiang from Overseas Network)
