Flip Helander is an important target for Anderlecht. The big left-footed Swedish defender has the good profile to be a stand-in for Jan Vertonghen. However, Odense is fighting for retention in Denmark and would prefer to keep Helander on board. However, he will not accept a proposal to extend his contract, which expires in June. Anderlecht made an initial offer of 150,000 euros, but the Danes want at least 300,000 euros. Helander did not play again last weekend during the restart of the competition with Odense due to a minor injury.
Helander told the Danish Tipsbladet this week that he has no idea yet of what the future will bring. “It’s hard to say what will happen. The only thing that is certain is that I have a contract until the summer. At the moment there is nothing concrete on the table, not from Odense and not from any other club.” At Odense, currently ninth out of twelve teams in the Danish top flight, they hope he stays: “We would like to extend his contract and sit down with him about it,” said sporting director Björn Wesström.
The experienced Helander previously played for Bologna and Rangers FC, among others. He also played 23 times for the national team, and played against the Red Devils in October.
