André Jardine boasts leadership of America to critics

Coach André Jardine of Club América celebrated the team’s current first place position in the General Table, dispelling the myth that they only performed well on their home field. With 17 games played, the Águilas have accumulated 35 points, with 10 away games and seven at home. This is a significant improvement from the previous semester when they had 40 points with 10 games at the Azteca Stadium and the rest away.

During a press conference, Jardine stated, “In this second round, we played away more times. The leadership, they (critics) said, had to do with the home games, but repeating the super leader now shows something else.”

The team’s recent victory in Puebla brought their total points for the football year to 75, a record-breaking accomplishment in the club’s history. Jardine attributed this success to the players’ understanding of a dynamic and adaptable game plan, as well as their focus on being the best defense.

“We set the goal of being the best defense. The rotations were to leave the team as fresh as possible. The main objective was victory and it was achieved,” Jardine explained.

He went on to emphasize the team’s efficiency in scoring goals and their strong defensive performance in both tournaments, which he believes has contributed to their success against any rival they face.
