Aston Martin Awaits the Start of the 2024 F1 Season With High Expectations

The upcoming 2024 F1 season has many fans and experts eagerly awaiting the performance of the Aston Martin team. Last year, the team made a significant impact at the start of the season, with Fernando Alonso securing six podiums in the first eight races. While the team’s performance dipped slightly in the latter part of the season, Alonso finished third in the drivers’ standings with 206 points.

This achievement placed Alonso at the top of the historical rankings for drivers at the Silverstone-based team. Checo Pérez in 2020 is the only other driver who comes close to Alonso’s record, with 125 points.

With the upcoming season on the horizon, the Aston Martin team is hopeful that their new AMR24 car will be competitive at the highest level. They will have the opportunity to assess the car’s performance during the Bahrain test, which is scheduled for February 21 to 23. This test will provide crucial insights into the team’s readiness for the F1 World Championship, which kicks off on March 2 at the Sakhir International Circuit.

Aston Martin ambassador Pedro de la Rosa has expressed optimism about the team’s prospects for the upcoming season. He emphasized their efforts to address the weaknesses of the previous year’s car and to ensure that the new car performs well across different types of circuits.

As for Alonso’s future with the team, his contract is set to expire at the end of 2024, sparking speculation about whether he will continue with Aston Martin or move to another team. De la Rosa hopes that Alonso will remain in F1, given his invaluable contribution to the sport. Whether Alonso stays with Aston Martin or pursues new opportunities remains to be seen, with the prospect of joining Mercedes or even considering retirement.
