SASSARI. Sassari and Sorso at the center of wheelchair basketball on a continental level. It will happen next April, when the PalaSerradimigni and the Polyvalent Center of the Romangino municipality will be the headquarters of the Wheelchair Basketball Final Eight.

The announcement was made yesterday by Dinamo Lab Banco di Sardegna, which was chosen to organize and host the Wheelchair Basketball Euroleague Final Eight. From 21 to 24 April 2022 the eight best continental teams will face each other on the parquet floors of Sassari and Sorso to elect the queen of Europe of basketball on two wheels.

“The company – explains the biancoblù management – has applied in the summer to host one of the most important wheelchair basketball sporting events that will see the best teams from the qualifying groups compete against each other: we have made available our long curriculum in the top leagues and in European competitions, combined with biancoblu logistics with all departments serving the IWBF. The confirmation arrived on Sunday and Dinamo Lab Banco di Sardegna will take part in the continental competition for the second time in its history. The organization of the Euroleague Final Eight represents an important step for our club and a great recognition for the work done in recent years ».

The Final Eight will take place with the eight qualified teams divided into two groups of four: the participants will face each other in an Italian group in which the winners will play head-to-head for the final, scheduled for April 24, 2022, while the others will face each other. for the qualification from 3rd to 8th place. The challenges will be divided between the field of PalaSerradimigni and the Palazzetto di Sorso, already headquarters of Dinamo Lab since last season: it will start on Thursday 21 April, with the first round of challenges completed on Friday. Semifinals scheduled for Saturday 23rd and final on Sunday 24th.

The participation of Dinamo Lab in the Euroleague completes the picture: to date Dinamo Banco di Sardegna is the only club in Italy to have three teams that, in addition to playing the top national championship, are in the European limelight.
