The 2022 Badminton Asian Championships ended today. In the first three finals, Wang Zhiyi, Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong, Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan won three gold medals for Guoyu.
The women’s singles final started first that day. Wang Zhiyi, the “post-00” national feather who had advanced to the final of the Asian Championships for the first time, faced the top seed and Japanese star Akane Yamaguchi. In the game, Wang Zhiyi was in a hard fight and lost the first game with 15:21. However, she quickly adjusted her state of play, winning two games in a row at 21:13 and 21:19, and finally reversed and defeated the strong enemy and won the gold medal.
The mixed doubles final is between two top national feather pairs. In the end, Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong, who were in better condition, defeated teammates Wang Yilu/Huang Dongping 2:0 (21:17, 21:8) and won the Asian Championships for the first time.
The women’s doubles gold medal was won by Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan, who beat the Japanese duo Iwanaga Ling/Nanxi Takiya 2:0 (21:11, 21:15). The latter beat former world No. 1 Yuki Fukushima/Saika Hirota in the semifinals, but they failed to upset the final.
