Rome, 15 October 2021 – The vote is back on ballot of the municipal elections 2021. The electoral appointment will involve about 5 million voters. In the municipalities over 15 thousand inhabitants where in the administrative offices of 3 and 4 October last the mayor was not elected in the first round (for which an absolute majority of 50% + 1 was required), citizens are asked to choose between the two candidates who obtained the highest number of votes. The ballots will be held on the dates of 17 and 18 October next for 65 municipalities, all those with more than 15 thousand inhabitants where the mayor was not elected in the first round. The municipalities of Trentino Alto-Adige, Sicily and Sardinia will instead go to the vote on 24 and 25 October.

Municipal elections 2021: the results of all cities

The citizens of 65 municipalities in which the mayor was not elected in the first round. Among the cities that will go to the second round, there are three regional capitals: Rome, Turin and Trieste, while in Milan, Bologna and Naples, center-left candidates were elected with an absolute majority. TO Roma the challenge will be between Gualtieri and Michetti, a Torino between Lo Russo and Damilano ea Trieste between Dipiazza and Russo. There are six provincial capitals that will go to the vote next Sunday and Monday: Benevento, Caserta, Isernia, Latina, Savona and Varese. In Trentino Alto-Adige, Sardinia and Sicily they will vote for the second round on 24 and 25 October next.

The polls are open – as in the first round – from 7 to 23 on Sunday October 17 and from 7 to 15 on Monday 18 October 2021. From 3pm on Monday the counting will begin. Also for the municipalities of Trentino Alto-Adige, Sicily and Sardinia, the polls will be open from 7 to 23 on Sunday 24 and from 7 to 15 on Monday 25 October.
