Bologna, 15 May 2022 – The moment of truth, long awaited by basketball fans, has arrived: in fact, today the playoffs of the Serie A basketball begin. The quarter-final and semi-final series will be played best of five games while the final will still be best of seven games. It will start at 17 (live on Eurosport Player, Discovery + and Eurosport 2) with the challenge between theArmani AX Milan and the Unahotels Reggio Emilia which is one of the possible surprises of these playoffs. The underdogs are on the side of the Milanese who, however, will no longer be able to rely on Malcolm Delaney. He will then be up to veterans Rodriguez, Shields, Hiners and Datome to pull that little bit extra. Also on the Reggio front a heavy absence, that of the Lithuanian Olisevicius, but the pressure on the shoulders of Caja’s men – dragged by the former Olimpia Cinciarini – is clearly less. At 19 (live on Eurosport Player and Discovery +) it will be the turn of a Betram Tortona e Umana Reyer Venice challenge each other in what on paper could be the most balanced quarter. The Piedmontese freshman has reached the postseason already in his first year in A and now aims to amaze again with a roster dragged by the couple formed by Macura (freshly renewed) and Daum, while Venice will have to find the right square after a year characterized by ups and downs and to do so he will try to rely on his hard core and newcomers like Morgan and Theodore.

The Sunday of the wedge ball is not over, however, because at 8.45 pm (live on Eurosport Player, Discovery + and Rai Sport) game 1 of the quarter-final will also be played between the Italian champions of Virtus Segafredo Bologna – fresh winners of the Eurocup – and the Carpegna Pesaro Ham who finds the playoffs after 10 years. The bianconeri for some months – thanks also to top quality grafts such as Shengelia and Hackett – have literally progressed by becoming an extremely solid team on both halves of the pitch but Pesaro has nothing to lose and will therefore be able to play with no doubt greater lightness. The first acts of the quarters will then close tomorrow with the match at 20.45 (live on Eurosport Player and Discovery +) between the Germani Brescia and the Dinamo Sassari. The Lombards are one of the main revelations of this championship, in which they have also placed a winning streak of 14 games in a row and, on the wings of the golden couple Della Valle-Mitrou-Long, aim to amaze even in the postseason but Dinamo, able to grow a lot during the season thanks also to the arrival of Bucchi, it will surely sell its skin dearly.
