Benedetta Broggi, a record year with 17 victories and 5 more times on the podium

Benedetta Broggi is the most successful runner from Pavia of 2021. If the Vigevanese Giulia Sommi has sipped the long races and in Valencia, Spain, she established the best Italian performance in the marathon behind only the marathon runners of military sports groups and Roberta Scabini from Voghera was the surprise of the year with two half marathons and one km. 10 by staff (with times of 1h23’25 “and in 38’59”), the “flying doctor” of the Raschiani Triathlon Pavese won 17 races, also putting three second and two third places on the board.

Victories and firsts

“I am satisfied – says Benedetta, 29 – I improved the staff in the 10 km at Monza (37’47) and in the half, I discovered the vertical, races in which I feel at ease and in which you climb” vertically ” . I like to vary and be eclectic, so my best races were my debut in the duathlon in Pavia, organized by my team in February, and ended with a result beyond expectations, ninth overall and first in its category; the Lacchiarella half marathon won with the staff (1h22’38); the Aosta-Becca di Nona, a classic of mountain running, very hard where I got a third place of satisfaction; the Salomon Trail Milano in September won in the rain on a very special route ». Broggi has a degree in medicine (hence the nickname “flying doctor”) and is in the last year of the specialization school in physiatrics. «To be able to train – he explains – I have to organize myself, trying not to stress myself when I have little time. During the lockdown I discovered the bike rollers that I now keep at home with my fellow bike enthusiast Guido Legnante. They are a good solution for a short workout in the morning before work. I manage training with flexibility to optimize the time available ».

Broggi this year covered a total of 3,150 km of running (of which about 250 in the race) and 4250 km of bikes. «I prefer trails, but training on the road is also important for that specialty and it is inevitable since I live in Pavia – specifies Broggi – and road races are a good way to objectively evaluate the state of form. Between the first and second half of the year the type of race changed, at the beginning mainly road, in summer especially trail and vertical. The beauty of doing different specialties is that there is always a way to build something new. The future? The dream would be to be able to apply the work in the sports field. For next year I have not yet decided anything on the races to face, for sure I will continue on the variety. There may still be limitations, but I hope that with the spread of the vaccine Covidsia will become less and less problematic “.

Broggi will also remain in the Raschiani team for 2022. “I will not change company – he concludes – the president Andrea Libanore intends to relaunch the racing sector”. –
