Illinois native, 29, replaces Serbian Krivacevic Debut in Charleston, last season at Panathinaikos

After the departure of the Serbian pivot Krivacevic, Costruzioni Italia Broni reached an agreement with the pivot-winger Janae Smith, a 29-year-old American, 188 cm. A native of Matteson, Illinois, she is a pivot winger who can score shoulders and front of the basket or create advantages for her teammates, thanks also to her aptitude for rebounds.

The carreer

Smith has extensive international experience, having played in Greece, Slovakia, Israel, Poland, Germany, Hungary and Belarus. He made his debut in the 2010/2011 season in the American university championship with Charleston, scoring an average of 11.7 points per game. So he remains two seasons first at Illinois State and then at Uab, with whom in the 2014/2015 tournament he averages 18.7 points and 8 rebounds on the scoresheet. In the summer of 2015 he lands in Greece at Niki Lefkadas, an A1 team, with whom he plays 9 matches, scoring almost 20 points per match. Then in January 2016 he moved to Israel, to Hapoel Petali Tikva (18.6 points on average). At the beginning of the following season he moved to Panathinaikos, then in February 2017 he was at Mbk Ruzomberok, in Slovakia: 11.4 points per game per game. In 2017 he is in Poland at Enea Azs Poznan, then arrives in nearby Germany, where he plays first with TSV 1880 Wasserburg, then at Eintracht Braunschweig since December 2018. The following year he is at Gorizont Minsk with a brilliant 17.3 points average per match. In 2020 he moved to Hungary at Beac Ujbuda. While in the current season he played first in Egypt with Al Gezira Cairo, then again at Panathinaikos. Now the arrival in Broni.
