Castel S. Giorgio-S. Maria la Carità: Excellency, smell of real football

Castel S. Giorgio-S. Maria la Carità: Excellency, smell of real football

It is now well known that to experience certain emotions, to allow the resurfacing of those sensations that only old football could give, the epic battle on the pitch, the support without ulterior motives in the stands, one must pour into the minor categories, whenever possible. by blind and senseless repression, pay television and other distortions typical of modern football which, from their point of view, transform fans into profitable customers but, on the other hand, increasingly empty the support itself of feeling and love.

Today’s match at the “Sessa” in Castel San Giorno between the hosts and the guests of Santa Maria la Carità is yet another demonstration of this. Stadium nestled between a hill that overlooks it, buildings and terraced houses that are practically close to the field. Truly a particular and evocative position that recalls the old and dusty facilities that made the history of our beloved provincial football.

There isn’t the crowd for big occasions but, as always, the ultras are in their place. The premises position themselves behind the “Nuovo Blocco” banner, displayed upside down. In addition to the “Ultras libera” banner, there are also a couple of patches depicting, evidently, fans who have passed away. More central in the sector but out of the way from the group cheering, there is the “Rossoblu Brigade” banner, an old sign of the premises.

Instead, about thirty guests show up, very compact and cheeky, so much so that they immediately tease the hosts. The singing was excellent on both sides, the teasing chants ended up characterizing the day, making the environment very lively while there was no shortage of pyrotechnics. On the pitch the dispute had no history, the home team won with an unequivocal 3-0, the match in the stands was much more balanced and, in my opinion, can be considered to have symbolically ended in a draw. At the end of the match the fans are let out at the same time, but there is nothing particular to report.
