Second day of the Champions League: both teams lost in the opening match. The Ukrainians have only scored one goal in their history against the Nerazzurri
Fiorentina, Atalanta, now Shakhtar. Inter continued with the period of fire and after the draw show against the Goddess (2-2 with a penalty missed by Dimarco and a goal canceled by Piccoli, in the final) they plunged back into the Champions League for the second day. An already very important challenge, by virtue of the defeat in the debut match at home against Real Madrid: Inzaghi’s men visit De Zerbi’s Shakhtar Donetsk.
The results

This is the direct clash between the two teams stopped at 0 points in group D: the Ukrainians lost by surprise in the first day against Sheriff, 2-0 with goals from Adama Traoré and Momo Yansane. Despite having faced teams of different levels, therefore, both Inter and Shakhtar need to remove the 0 in the box of points scored: it is forbidden to lose. And De Zerbi’s men are still achieving excellent results at home: 22 points after the first 9 days and second place behind Dynamo Kiev, at 25. The two teams met last Wednesday at the Ukrainian Super Cup: 3-0 in favor of Shakhtar Donetsk with a brace from Lassina Franck Traoré and a goal from Alan Patrick. The defeat against the Sheriff can therefore be a deceptive result.

The two teams have met five times in European competitions: three draws and two wins for Inter, which is therefore still unbeaten. But the two draws of the last edition weigh: a double 0-0 (that of San Siro arrived on the last day) which contributed to the European failure of the Nerazzurri, last in the group and not even qualified for the Europa League. In those two matches, the team coached by Antonio Conte at the time failed to find the goal despite having tried 32 overall conclusions. Considering also the 5-0 for Inter in the 2020 Europa League, the Ukrainians have never scored against the Nerazzurri in their last three matches: only one goal against Biscione in the five games played. Inzaghi and De Zerbi have faced each other 9 times: 5 wins for the Inter, 2 wins for the former Sassuolo (all in the last three matches) and as many draws.
