The organizing committee, led by Stefano Spini, however, decided to revolutionize the format of the competition, keeping its essence and history intact. Three key changes. The first concerns the 22.6 km Unified Route: the itineraries of previous editions merge into a single 22.6 km route, with a positive and negative difference in altitude of 1490 m, through the most evocative places of the iconic Vallunga ring – Valcorta.
Goodbye to the Pairs Formula: After two decades, the characteristic pairs formula is abandoned with a hint of nostalgia with the aim of involving a wider audience, encouraging the registrations of individual athletes. The new Valtartano Skyrace is in all respects a Choice of Heart and Spirit. The decision to change the name of the race from “Valtartano Summer Rally” to “Valtartano Skyrace” was more than a simple formal change. «We questioned ourselves deeply about our spirit and the identity of our race – explained Stefano Spini -. We grew up studying the Kima trophy rankings more than those of Serie A football. Our passion for the mountains and for running has deep roots in the 90s, when the first skyrunners made young people like us dream. The time has come to tell everyone that we are a skyrace and to fully embrace our vocation as ‘sky runners’.”
The location of departure, arrival and awards ceremony has been confirmed, in Biorca on the banks of the Tartano river, an oasis of refreshment and post-race relaxation for athletes and companions. Registration for the Valtartano Skyrace officially opened on Monday 22 April 2024 and will close on Wednesday 12 June or upon reaching 250 registered participants.
It is possible to register online on the site www.wedosport.net or at the 3 passi Outdoor Patagonia Morbegno shop. The registration fee will be €30.00 until June 1, 2024, while for the last 10 days, it will rise to €35.00. There will be an obligation to have a Fisky card, with the possibility of purchasing a daily card upon registration at a cost of €5.00 per person. All members will receive a Crazy technical gadget, refreshments and assistance on the route, lunch and refreshments upon arrival.
