Denis Constantini: “We made the most of the opportunity they gave us. They also offered us a stop in March, but we didn’t feel it”

Time to take stock with an eye to the future for the organizing committee of the snowboard cross world cup stage in Cortina.
«Our goal was to send a very specific signal and we did it. We are all satisfied, we have received the compliments of Fisi. Things went as we had hoped, ”said President Denis Constantini.
Words that open the doors to the return of the snowboard cross world cup in Cortina again next year, and beyond.
«We were granted, by pure chance, an unrepeatable opportunity», added Constantini, «the cancellation of the Feldberg stage has opened up new scenarios. We were good at catching the ball. We decided to take the risk ourselves, but that risk turned out to be a success. There is nothing written, but the chances of including Cortina in the calendar of the snowboard cross world cup are very high ».
What is missing to transform possibility into certainty?
«We will have to sit around a table together with the institutions», Constantini replied, «the FIS has already ruled in our favor. However, it is necessary to find the squaring of the circle in the economic sphere. The committee did its part by putting it on its own. Committee composed of six people including myself. It will be necessary to make some evaluations all together, if things converge towards a common goal we could say that the bulk is done ».
Speaking of the new snowboard cross in Cortina, Denis Constantini revealed a background of the very latest hour.
«Based on what we did on Saturday in Socrepes, we were asked to take over the race at the Chiesa Valmalenco stage in March which had first been postponed and then canceled. We looked at each other for a moment, but in the end we decided no. We are not in a position to take the longest step. The endorsement gave us enormous pleasure. It was another sign that confirms how much good we are doing ».
What made the Cortina stage even more spectacular was the fact that it developed at night.
«From this point of view, and not only due to the fact that we ran at night», Denis Constantini concluded, «the experience of the slalom and downhill stage that we always organize in December in Faloria proved to be fundamental. The organizational machine is already well established. The successes of Faloria have pushed us to embark on this new adventure. It is good to remember that we are a small snowboard club, the organizational team was built in the race and relies mainly on volunteers. Organically speaking, a snowboard cross stage requires a commitment five times higher than what happens in Faloria in December ». –
