Daspo to the rowdy of the Zoncolan: he risked to bring down Fortunato

by admin

The culprit, a 33-year-old electronics engineer, had invaded the roadway during the race. Immediately repentant, he had avoided the complaint. He will not be able to attend cycling races in Italy until the end of 2022

The Daspo issued by the Udine police commissioner was notified to the 33-year-old Tuscan who, during the Zoncolan stage of the last Giro d’Italia, had risked to overthrow Lorenzo Fortunato, a Bolognese runner of the Eolo-Kometa who was on a solitary escape and who would then win the stage. That success inspired the “vote” of Alberto Contador, who is the manager of Eolo-Kometa together with Ivan Basso, to cycle 1600 km from Madrid to Milan. The Daspo concerns road and track cycling races, which take place in Italy, and will expire at the end of 2022.

Repentance

The culprit of the gesture was an electronic engineer and his name is Giulio. On Saturday 22 May he invaded the roadway, before being stopped by Gilberto Simoni and his companions. A gesture to be condemned, which Giulio immediately regretted. In fact, after contacting Enzo Cainero, the deus ex machina of the Friulian stages, a week later he apologized, avoiding the complaint. Cainero had asked him to make a collection to donate to Progetto Autismo Fvg and to volunteer for a couple of Friulian stages of the next Giro d’Italia. Which at this point he will not be able to do. “I’ll ask for a derogation,” Cainero had said about it.
