Mexican commentator David Faitelson sends dart to Honduran press after elimination from Copa América
The well-known Mexican commentator, David Faitelson, didn’t hold back in his criticism of the Honduran press after the Catracha squad was eliminated from the Copa América with a 3-1 loss to Costa Rica. This comes after the Honduran press had been very critical of Mexican soccer following their quarterfinal loss to Mexico in the Nations League.
“Faitelson has been critical of Honduran football not only because of the adverse results but also because of the functioning of the team,” stated a report. The journalist took to social media platform Twitter to express his thoughts, saying “Honduran soccer has been left behind for a long time.”
The exchange of words between Faitelson and the Honduran press escalated after Mexico’s victory over Honduras in the Nations League, with Diario Deportivo Diez claiming that the Mexicans did not deserve to pass. Faitelson defended the Aztecs’ classification, leading to further controversy and harsh words exchanged online.
Mexico is set to play in the final of the Nations League against the United States, while Honduras has been left out not only of the League of Nations but also the Copa América. The elimination from both tournaments has outraged the catracho media, further fueling the ongoing debate between Faitelson and the Honduran press.
