De Francesch restarts from the Cosmos. “It’s a very interesting project”

Gabriele De Francesch starts again immediately, after the painful relegation with Sedico at the end, however, of eight seasons including the climb from C2 to the B playoffs. His new team is Cosmos Nove, C1 team from Vicenza.

Moreover, it is the first experience on the bench outside the province of Belluno. The Pontalpine coach had in fact started his coaching career in 2002 with Nuova Alpes, taking the club from Serie D to C1. In the 2009-2010 season, here was the adventure of the SeriAlpes under 21 team, while in the following championship he moved to Canottieri Belluno, bringing the under 21 team up to the round of 32 in the championship. The following two seasons he directs Atletico Cavarzano, between C2 and C1.

The rest is recent history, with Bribano first and then Sedico. Now there is a new context, which De Francesch intends to experience to the best of his ability.

So Mister, did you choose the Cosmos Nove? For her who is from Ponte nelle Alpi, she is certainly not one of the closest teams to home …

«The first fifteen, twenty days following the end of the cadet championship with Sedico, nothing interesting emerged. Then three companies showed their interest in a more convinced way, including Cosmos. And they were the most convincing ones, but above all a certain feeling with the management was immediately born. They motivated me because in their opinion I was the best person to fill the role of coach. A few days I had to take it, but I still have a great desire to continue with futsal and in the province there are fewer and fewer 5-a-side football clubs. Moreover, all of them already have their valid technician ».

Ambitions in terms of results?

«In the meantime, I hope to bring that little experience gained especially in recent years to Sedico. The intention is to set up a team capable of aiming for something more than salvation. But as I always argue, over time you realize what your real potential is and what you have to look at ».

Back in C1 after several seasons in B.

“It’s not a downgrade, absolutely. Training in cadeteria was a great experience, which I earned together with the Sedico. The Venetian C1 is a very competitive championship, perhaps one of the strongest in terms of quality among the regional tournaments in Italy. I am convinced that I have made the right choice ».
