1. FC Magdeburg finally saved itself from relegation in the 2nd Bundesliga with a draw against 1. FC Nürnberg. The “club”, on the other hand, must continue to worry, but does something for morale.

Magdeburg gave up the lead twice in the 2-2 win over Nuremberg, but the one point was enough for them to stay up in the 2nd Bundesliga.

Nuremberg comes back twice

Coach Christian Titz’s team took the lead twice. First, a Nuremberg own goal by Jannes Horn gave the hosts the lead (34th minute). Then Jason Ceka scored to make it 2-1 (68th).

The “Club” came back twice: Felix Lohkemper (54th/83rd) equalized both times. With 35 points, Nuremberg is still threatened with relegation, but coming back twice after two deficits should at least be good for morale.

Magdeburg scores in the heyday of the “club”

The “club”, which had to do without goalkeeper Peter Vindahl (torn inner ligament) in addition to captain Christopher Schindler (torn cruciate ligament) in the final spurt of the season, started bravely, but did not ignite any real danger.

Only a double chance by captain Lino Tempelmann and James Lawrence (4th) put FCM under pressure. On the other hand, Nuremberg keeper Carl Klaus was powerless when Horn headed his own box.

After the change of sides, the guests started courageously again and earned Lohkemper’s equalizer. In this Franconian high phase, Ceka again took the lead in FCM, but they managed to equalize again: the video evidence revealed Lohkemper’s supposed offside position.
