The ex-freeman of Da Rold enthusiastically embraced the proposal to bring all the former Bellunos to the Furmenti team
In the last five seasons with the Belluno Volleyball shirt he won a promotion in C (2017), then one in B (2019) and finally one in A3 (2021). The free Roberto Schiano (who a few hours ago also became Enea’s father, together with his mother Giorgia Dal Mas) was among the first to embrace the idea of a Serie C Spes Belluno centered on former Da Rold Logistics players.
«For some years I was the oldest of the group», says Schiano, «and I have always maintained that volleyball should be fun and never stress. I thought so when the club chose to give up the Serie C to start again from the D. And all the more reason I think so now. When the club asked us for availability to face a Serie A championship, I thought it was too demanding. But I didn’t want to stop ».
Preparation with coach Furmenti will begin on Monday.
«I wanted to continue playing», Schiano continues, «but we needed to find something that wasn’t too demanding. So I tried to involve in this idea my teammates who in turn had said no to the commitment of Serie A. And I immediately found great enthusiasm from guys like Enrico Zanolli and Roberto Burigo. But that’s not all: this solution should also make it possible to re-involve some young people who had been stopped for some time, such as Michele Tollardo and Roberto Da Pian. We still want to play ».
With what objectives do you face this new adventure?
«Personally, I do it without any personal ambition, with the sole purpose of having fun, being part of a group and doing some sport. If then a good team will come out and something more will come out, so much the better ».
Meanwhile, the newly promoted team in A3 has changed a lot. What idea have you got?
«Even if I don’t know the players individually, it seems to me that they are a good group and I hope that over time they will confirm this feeling. The A3 is a good bet and we hope they will win this bet ».
