F1, LIVE OF THE MELBOURNE QUALIFYING

The French Isaac Hadjar won the Formula 2 Sprint Race in Melbourne. The team driver Campos preceded to the finish line Stanek (Trident) e Piles (MP) After a very tormented qualifying session for many announced protagonists (Martins, Crawford, Fittipaldi, Bearman himself) here comes out of the hat Dennis Hauger (MP)e Kimi Antonelli (Prema) to compose an unprecedented and aggressive front row for the Feature Race. Yet another demonstration of talent from the Italian who had single-handedly defended the colors of the ‘Ferrarina’ in Jeddah, after the sudden call from Ollie Bearman on an SF-24 to replace the unavailable Sainz.

The regulations of the Sprint races, however, impose, as for the F3, a overturning of the grill of the best chronometric performances, 10 in the case of the F2. So at the start of the shortest race – 23 laps for just over 121 km in total – the two best line up in the fifth row. Stanek (Trident) and Bortoleto (Invicta) are in front of everyone, championship leader Maloney (Rodin) starts from the third row, Fittipaldi in the pit lane. At the start there is an immediate brawl and after a few meters Hadjar closes in on Martì who impacts Bortoleto and both crash into the pit lane wall. Then Hadjar takes the lead and the Safety Car comes on. Antonelli is sixth. Martins jumps to thirteenth position. He takes advantage of the Cordeel Safety Car to change tires.

The race restarts on lap seven. Error by Maloney who slips to tenth position. On the tenth lap, during an overtaking attempt Antonelli – while he was in fifth position, ending up in the gravel – and Verschoor turn around. Safety Car again. Italian is also out. At the top of the race is always Hadjar (whose position will be investigated at the end of the race, in reference to the accident at the start), then Stanek and Maini. Hauger is fourth.

Hauger passes Maini one and a half laps from the end and takes third position which he maintains until the podium, behind Stanek and Hadjar (Campos Team), who passes first under the checkered flag, with 6″8 on his pursuers. First points for Martins (2) e Bearman (1). In ranking doesn’t change anything, Maloney always a leader. Tomorrow Feature Race with Hauger at the pole and Antonelli on the front row.
