Wednesday 11 April 2022 – is the day chosen by Warner Bros. to release in Italian cinemas ‘Fantastic Beasts – Dumbledore’s Secrets’. This is the third chapter of the prequel pentalogy of ‘Harry Potter’ and is characterized, among other things, by the presence of Mads Mikkelsen in the role of the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald: it was he who replaced Johnny Depp after the latter was removed following accusations of domestic violence made by his ex-wife. Critics agree that Mikkelsen is a great addition to the cast, but they aren’t quite as impressed with the film as a whole.

The plot revolves around Grindelwald’s growing power, bent on dominate the wizarding world and wage open warfare on Muggles, that is, those who are not endowed with magical powers. A plan that Albus Dumbledore intends to thwart, but without being able to intervene directly against Grindelwald due to a blood pact made when the two were young and deeply connected. Thus, it is up to Newt Scamander and his friends to act at the forefront of a mission that spans the 1930s and which will lead us to the Second World War. In the meantime, we will deepen our knowledge of the magical communities of the United States, United Kingdom and Brazil and will take the first steps in those of Bhutan, Germany and China.
‘Fantastic Beasts: Dumbledore’s Secrets’ names the change of interpreter for Gellert Grindelwald (outside Johnny Depp, inside Mads Mikkelsen) and brings back on stage most of the cast already seen in action in the two previous chapters. Over all Jude Law (Albus silente), Eddie Redmayne (Newt Scamander) e poi Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Callum Turner, William Nadylam, Poppy Corby-Tuech e Jessica Williams.
The third installment of the saga confirms the director David Yachts, who directed the Harry Potter films fifth through eighth, the first two ‘Fantastic Beasts’ and will also be behind the camera for the fourth and fifth installments of pentalogy. The script is once again signed by JK Rowling, author of the Harry Potter novels and creator of the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ saga. To support her in the writing phase of the script there was Steve Klovesveteran of the Wizarding World: he edited all the scripts of the Potter saga except for ‘The Order of the Phoenix’.
