2026 Olympics, Brignone exhibits the world cup at the Triennale: the good omen for Milan-Cortina

The World Cup won by the alpine skier Federica Brignone will be exhibited at the Milan Triennale. The trophy, a crystal globe, was given to the mayor Giuseppe Sala this morning during a meeting at the Bit (International Tourism Exchange) taking place in Fieramilanocity, and is intended to be a good omen for the next Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympics. Also present was the Minister of Tourism Massimo Garavaglia who, underlining the importance of sporting events as an opportunity for development, also hinted at the desire to bring the Youth Olympics in 2028 to Lombardy: “Since sport is something fundamental for tourism – explains the minister – We have organized the Ski Master Games in Lombardy for 2024, and since we are never satisfied, we asked ourselves what to do next and then we bring the Youth Olympics in 2028: now that we have done 30 we will do 31 ». The minister on the sidelines of the announcement did not provide further details on the possible candidacy of Lombardy, which at the moment does not seem official, even if the territory could be an ideal place for the holding of the Winter Olympic Games for young people given the structures already present for Milan -Cortina two years earlier.
Meanwhile, the works for the 2026 Olympics continue: “We are working to complete the road infrastructure and newly built structures as quickly as possible – explains the president of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana – it is important to urge the territories to adapt the offer and promote their beauties, to give away the Olympics at 360 degrees ». The governor then hopes that the Games will be even more important than Expo: «The Olympics have a longer period, it is not only linked to the years leading up to the event, but also to subsequent years. I think they can be just as important, perhaps even more ». Regarding the fears about the progress of the works for the Olympics, Fontana states that «the company that deals with infrastructures was set up last November: it has started to get busy, it is doing the preparatory work. We hope he can leave soon. The Milan-Cortina foundation is working, has recently approved the budget. Everything is proceeding, with some delay but it is proceeding ».
“We want to go back to being the Milan that runs, it is precisely the destiny of the big cities: they struggle to be slow and not to release their energy” said Mayor Giuseppe Sala during the trophy delivery event, and specifies: “After the pandemic we have all changed and sport and lifestyle will have a very important weight in our life. Milan will change but it will try not to throw away the path taken, we have made great events and tourism a driving force for growth ».
